Store employee confronts would-be robber

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man who tried to rob the Saddlebrook Dollar Store in Laurel County ended up running away after being confronted by the assistant store manager, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say a man walked into the business and went straight to the cashier’s desk where customers were checking out, implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

The assistant store manager immediately picked up the phone and called 9-1-1 and when the would-be-robber inferred he was reaching for a weapon, the assistant manager tried to grab the bandana that was covering the suspect’s face, at which time the suspect ran out of the store without getting any money, according to investigators.

The suspect was last seen running westbound toward KY 192, according to investigators.

This happened around 9:40 p.m. on KY 192, just west of London.

The suspect is approximately 5’10” to 6′ with a thin build. He was wearing a dark gray hoodie, a blue bandana and blue jeans.
