State Trooper from Lawrenceburg killed in crash

GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky State Trooper from Anderson County was killed in a crash while on duty in western Kentucky on Tuesday.

Trooper Eric Chrisman, of Lawrenceburg, was on US 62 near the Marshall-Livingston County line, responding to a reckless driving complaint, when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to KSP.

Investigators say Trooper Chrisman’s cruiser crossed into the eastbound lane and into the path of an oncoming 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 53-year old Richard Burnham, Junior of Benton, Kentucky.

State Police say Trooper Chrisman’s cruiser was impacted on the driver’s side.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The truck driver was treated and released from an area hospital.  Investigators say both men were wearing seat belts.

KSP says Trooper Chrisman was assigned to Lyon County and was living in Eddyville.  He graduated from the KSP Academy, Class 92, in January of this year.

The crash remains under investigation.
