Start of modern gun deer hunting season
KENTUCKY (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky’s modern gun deer hunting season kicks off this Saturday, and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is reminding hunters to follow safety protocols and regulations.
Known as one of the top ten states for hunters seeking trophy bucks, Kentucky offers abundant hunting opportunities, but the department wants to ensure that safety remains a priority throughout the season.
Hunters are required to wear hunter orange, carry a valid hunting license, and complete a telecheck for each deer harvested. Regulations vary depending on the hunting zone, with limits in place on the number of deer that can be harvested in each area.
The hunting season will run through November 24. For a complete list of rules and regulations, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Facebook page offers further information.
