UPDATE: Standoff ends without injury in Montgomery County

UPDATE (9/4/2019) – According to the sheriff’s department, there was a hostage situation in Bath County before the standoff happened.

The man arrested is 52 year old Terry Wilson and is also a registered sex offender.

According to court documents, on Tuesday Wilson and a woman were at cabin in Bath County.

The documents say the woman dozed off and when she woke up Wilson was lunging at her.

It goes on to say the woman was tied with rope and ratchet strap and Wilson forced her out of the cabin. The woman was able to escape to a nearby shack.

After that, investigators say they found Terry Wilson at an abandoned home in Montgomery County.

They say he was armed and barricaded himself inside the hour for four hours.

When Wilson stopped communicating deputies went inside and arrested him.

Wilson is charged with kidnapping and more charges are pending.


MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)-A man ended up behind bars Tuesday after a standoff with sheriff’s deputies in Montgomery County.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were trying to serve a felony warrant when 52-year-old Terry Wilson from Owingsville barricaded himself, while armed, in an empty home.

Deputies say they tried to negotiate with him for four hours, but then he refused to communicate anymore so they say they made their way inside and were able to safely arrest him without hurting anyone.

Wilson was facing a kidnapping charge. Deputies say he will now be facing other charges too.
