Stabbing suspect arrested in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A murder suspect is in the hospital after police track him down in Whitley County.

Investigators say 27-year-old Jeffery Cole was wanted in connection to a stabbing on Monday on Jordon Hollow Road.

Detectives say Cole fatally stabbed 55-year-old Curtis Lawson, of Siler, after a fight at Lawson’s home.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Cole was caught Tuesday after they say there was a second stabbing reported, this time near Sullivan’s Towing in Williamsburg.

That victim had non life-threatening injuries.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department says Cole was located at a home on Wilson Road after an exhaustive search.

He was taken to Saint Joseph hospital in London to be treated for potential complications from hypothermia.

Cole is now in the Whitley County Detention Center, charged with murder, assault and fleeing or evading police.
