St. Patrick’s Day parade brings together friends & family

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – People in downtown Lexington were celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, one day early.

It started Saturday morning with the shamrock shuffle and by the afternoon it was time for the 40th annual parade.

The Vanhoose family has been coming to the parade for years and they consider it a family tradition.

“It’s our favorite parade. We love it even more than the 4th of July. We love the dancing,” said Marsha Vanhoose.

This year, the Vanhoose family invited their friends who’ve never been to the parade.

Between the two families, there’s five kids and the moms say watching them get excited about the parade is the best part.

“My 3 year old has not been to a parade before so this is his first one. So, I’m just looking forward to him being excited,” said Megan Marcum.

Both of the families say being together is twice the fun with twice the number of memories.
