Spring like weather rolls on

Meteorologist Jordan Smith has your Saturday evening ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

Lexington, Kentucky (WTVQ – ABC 36): Good Saturday evening everyone, it has been a day filled with clouds and milder temperatures. Those clouds begin to break overnight and that sets us up for a GORGEOUS Sunday. We will start chilly into the upper 30s to low 40s but will recover to the upper 60s to low 70s by the afternoon under a mostly sunny sky. Get outside and enjoy it.

Changes blow in starting Monday in the form of a scattered storm or two. Most of us stay dry though with highs back into the upper 60s to low 70s. Someone may even reach the mid 70’s with enough sunshine. That is crazy for the first week of March.

Thunderstorms increase into our Tuesday and will be likely through Wednesday. It won’t rain this entire period, but you’ll want to have the rain gear handy. A strong storm or two is even possible along with heavy rainfall. We go from the upper 60s to near 70 on Tuesday afternoon to the upper 50s to low 60s Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday is a day sandwiched between another strong system. We look to stay dry but temperatures remain down into the upper 50s to low 60s.

Thunderstorms increase once again for our Friday – Saturday with locally heavy rain and strong storms possible as well. Temperatures come down even lower for our Saturday with low 50s for highs.

In all, a general 1″-3″ of rainfall is coming over the next week. Locally higher amounts are possible under thunderstorms so we need to watch the high water threat.
