Spring-like warmth takes over for the rest of the week
A much milder start Thursday morning
Thursday morning feels noticeably better, running about 15 to 20 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. Temperatures in the 50s and a light southern breeze make for a pretty pleasant start to the day.
You might still want a light jacket early on, but you won’t need it for long. As the morning goes on, temperatures will warm quickly..
By the afternoon, it’s shaping up to be a beautiful spring day. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 70s with plenty of sunshine.
It’s the kind of day that makes it hard to stay inside. Just don’t forget the sunglasses. If allergies have been bothering you, you’ll likely feel it today. Pollen levels remain high, and the warm, dry air won’t do you any favors.
Another great day Friday, with changes late
Friday continues the stretch of great weather. Expect highs in the mid to upper 70s, with a mix of sunshine and just a few passing clouds.
If you’re spending time outside, it’s a good idea to think about sun protection. UV levels will be moderately high, and it doesn’t take long to get a burn this time of year.
Later Friday into the night, a weak cold front will slide toward the region. This brings a small chance for a few showers or even a brief thunderstorm, mainly across southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky.
For most of us, though, this won’t be a big deal. Rain looks spotty and light, and many areas may not see much at all.
A few lingering showers early Saturday, then drying out
That weak front may leave behind just enough moisture for an isolated shower early Saturday, but don’t expect much.
Most of the day will turn out dry, with a mix of clouds and some sunshine. High pressure nearby will help clear things out fairly quickly.
Temperatures stay warm, generally in the 70s, making it another solid day to get outside.
Turning even warmer by Sunday
By Sunday, we really start to tap into that warmer air. Highs will jump into the 80s, bringing an early taste of summer to the region. With dry conditions expected, it’s shaping up to be one of the nicest days of the stretch.
The warmth doesn’t stop with the weekend. Above-average temperatures are expected to continue into early next week, with a generally dry pattern sticking around at first.
By the middle of next week, things may turn more active. There are signs that a stronger system could bring better chances for showers and thunderstorms, and possibly even some stronger storms, though the details are still uncertain.
