‘Sports Connection’ donates $15,000 to Jaime Morales Fund

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – The owner of ‘Sports Connection’ in Georgetown presented a $15,000 check to the Deputy Jaime Morales Fund in support of the wounded sheriff’s deputy.

The money was raised through the sale of t-shirts at the business that features Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Jaime Morales’ 217 badge number on the front with a flag.  The back of the shirts say, “In This Family No One Fights Alone.”

Deputy Morales was critically wounded September 11, 2018.  Investigators say Deputy Morales was shot in the back trying to apprehend a suspected serial bank robber from Florida at the northbound rest area on I-75 at Exit 127.

Deputy Morales survived the shooting, but is 90% paralyzed.  A number of community fundraisers have been held for the Deputy Jaime Morales Fund to help Deputy Morales and his family with medical bills and other resources needed as he adjusts to life after the shooting.
