Special Election Tuesday to fill vacant Senate seat
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – There is a special election Tuesday to fill a vacant Senate seat for the 31st District.
Voters in the district, which includes Elliott, Lawrence, Martin, Morgan and Pike counties, will choose between Democrat Darrell Pugh and Republican Phillip Wheeler.
The seat opened up when former Senate Minority Floor Leader Ray Jones was elected Pike County Judge-Executive.
Election officials say a special election works just like any other election. They say it doesn’t matter which party a voter is registered under.
Voters will cast their ballots in their usual polling place.
Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
