Special Election date set to fill vacant state senate seat

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Governor Bevin set March 5, 2019, for a special election to fill the vacant 31st Senate District Seat for Elliott, Lawrence, Martin, Morgan and Pike counties.

The seat was vacated by Ray Jones, who is the new Pike County Judge-Executive.

Republicans and Democrats must nominate a candidate by January 15, 2019.

Write-in candidates must file by 4:00 p.m. on February 5, 2019.
