Somerset PD: Deer Collides with Motorcyclist

Just before 6:30 Friday morning, Somerset police were called to the KY-914 Bypass to discover that a deer had reportedly run into the path of a motorcyclist.

When officers arrived, they learned that Darrell Baker, 59, was riding his bike on the southeastern section of the bypass when the deer ran out in front of him. They said Baker hit the animal and then overturned several times.

Police said he was thrown from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

Baker was flown to UK Hospital for his injuries.

His condition has not yet been released.
