Solid Blue fans celebrate Cats first Super Regional

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- While the end result of today’s game was not the one Solid Blue fans were hoping for people still packed into sports bars to watch the cats in their first ever super regional.

Cats fans packed into restaurants during their lunch hour to cheer on the baseball team as they continue their historic run to try and get to the College World Series.

While UK may be better know for its support of the basketball team, bar managers here tell me this super regional has fans just as excited.

“Oh they’re really excited. I had a bunch of friends take off today to go to Louisville to watch the games. I know a lot of people are traveling with the team now. So they’re happy. Football’s back, baseball is getting good. We’re all excited,” said Kyle Skaggs, bar manager at Tin Roof.

Now the series is best two out of three.

Game 2 is set to start at noon Saturday and employees at Tin Roof say they’ve already gotten people calling in to reserve tables for the big game.
