Slain University of Louisville student mourned at vigil

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A candlelight vigil was held at the University of Louisville to honor a student who died in a fatal shooting.

The Courier-Journal reports (http://cjky.it/2mUHo49) students gathered on campus Wednesday to mourn 20-year-old Savannah Walker. Authorities say Walker was shot in the chest on Sunday while attending a rap concert inside a downtown Louisville art gallery. Five others were injured.

The Victims father, Dean Walker, says his daughter died a hero and was pushing her friend out of the way when she was shot.

A funeral for Walker will be held Friday in Louisville.

No arrests have been made in Walker’s death.
