Sinkhole in Frankfort closes busy road

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reporting that Shelby Street in downtown Frankfort is closed at the intersection with 4th Street near Frankfort High School. A portion of the pavement has collapsed because of a sinkhole that opened up underneath the roadway.

Maintenance crews have closed the intersection to traffic, and will spend the evening filling the hole with concrete, and patching it with asphalt.  The intersection will remain closed until late in the day on Thursday, August 13.
