Showers and storms to kick off the fall season

A drier morning to a soggy afternoon for autumn’s start

We’ve only seen a few isolated showers to start our work week, but rain chances will increase from west to east throughout the afternoon. Even if you’re dry to start, you’ll want to grab the rain gear as you’ll very likely be wet later on today. We’ll see widespread showers and some thunderstorms by the afternoon through the evening. It’s also the official start of fall as today is the autumnal equinox, meaning we’ll see an equal amount of day and night.

Severe storms not very likely

It’s not out of the question that we may see a few stronger to possibly lower-end severe level storms, but these will likely not have any major impacts. We can expect to see torrential downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds with any storms that strengthen. Overall, just keep in mind you may run into some heavy rain that could cause hydroplaning on roads, and you will want to secure any holiday decor and trash cans before storms arrive and possibly blow your things over.

Beneficial rainfall continues with fall-like temps to come

We’ll see rain chances continuing over the next several days. Tuesday will see more isolated coverage, but Wednesday we’re back to being scattered to widespread. Unsettled weather continues through the end of the week and looks possible even for next weekend. Temperatures will be closer to average by mid-week in the mid-70s.
