Sheriff: Marathon Armed Robber Locked Employee in Freezer

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Sheriff John Root says that Laurel County detectives are investigating an armed robbery at the Marathon gas station on Adams Road near KY 770 and I-75 that happened early Wednesday morning.

According to the detectives, just after 6:00 a.m., a man entered the business armed with a pistol, and took an undisclosed amount of money from the attendant.

The suspect then locked the employee in the freezer and ran off on foot.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing all black, including a black hoodie.  He stands about 6 feet tall, and weight between 180 to 200 pounds.  Investigators also say the man’s face was painted black.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
