Sheriff: Man in hit-and-run collision under the influence
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Corbin man was driving under the influence when he was involved in a hit-and-run collision Tuesday afternoon, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say 64-year old William Walker rear-ended another vehicle on East Cumberland Gap Parkway around 4:30 p.m.
Deputies say after the collision, Walker got out of his Ford Ranger, talked to other people involved in the accident, got back in his pickup and drove off. Deputies say they found Walker in his pickup, that had heavy front-end damage, and detected an odor of alcohol. Investigators say they determined Walker was under the influence.
Investigators say Walker told them he took off after the collision because he knew he had been drinking and he knew that he was in trouble. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on a host of charges.
