Sheriff: Inmate escapes from Knox County work release crew
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to the Knox County Sheriff’s department –an inmate wandered away while out with a work release near Knox County High School crew on Monday.
Deputies say Elmer Burnette, an inmate at Knox County Detention Center, was with a road clearing crew on 25E when he escaped.
Knox County High School was put on lock down as deputies searched for Burnette.
He was found and taken back into custody without incident just after 10 a.m.
