Sheriff: Drunk driver causes crash in Laurel County
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities in Laurel County say a man was driving under the influence when he caused a crash over the weekend.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Dustin Smith was driving on Kentucky 80 on Sunday around 1:00 a.m. when he rear ended a pickup truck. The pickup flipped and landed off the road.
Deputies say witnesses reported seeing Smith’s car going at a high rate of speed before the crash.
Smith was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.
