Sheriff: Body found in Richmond could be missing Winchester woman
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A body has been found in Madison County, suspending the search there for a missing Clark County woman.
The Sheriff’s Department says it will likely know Friday whether the body found was that of 26-year-old Amanda Bailey.
The body was found just about two miles from where Bailey was last seen.
The Sheriff says Bailey was last seen walking near Lake Reba Monday.
Thursday morning around 8:30, deputies say a property owner found a woman’s body in a field nearby.
Bailey’s family was about to start looking for her when deputies called off the search until the body is identified.
David Bailey took his family back home to Winchester to wait for the news they don’t want to hear.
“I’m her dad and it hurt me so bad. I’m still hurt over it,” David Bailey said.
Bailey says he’s certain the body is his daughter’s, partially because she’s the only one missing nearby.
He says in just a week she would have celebrated a birthday.
He says she went to Lake Reba to talk with her four-year-old daughter’s dad.
According to bailey, the ex-boyfriend says Amanda was angry and threw her phone into the water and ran off.
The Sheriff’s Office says Bailey’s case is still a missing persons investigation and there is no foul play suspected.
Her father is already mourning and feeling remorseful he couldn’t carry out a parent’s top duty, keeping his daughter safe.
“I wanted to help her and I couldn’t, okay? It hurts when you lose a kid,” Bailey said.
It’s hurt Bailey has even before he truly knows whether that body is his daughter’s.
He could have an answer Friday when the medical examiner finishes an autopsy in Frankfort.
