Severe weather season is here

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Meteorologist John Gordon with the National Weather Service says he expects this severe weather season to be longer and more intense.

“I have seen over the last several years that anytime it gets warm in November through march it’s not good,” he said.

With warmer temperatures being more prevalent, future storms have the potential to become way more severe.

“People should not be happy when it’s 70 degrees in December, January, February, it’s not going to be good for somebody,” Gordon said.

Gordon says Kentuckians should expect hail, high winds, and even tornadoes this season, which means the time to get prepared is now.
