Serious crash leads to DUI arrest in Laurel Co.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a serious crash Tuesday morning where a utility pole went through the passenger side of the car.

Deputies say 24-year-old Derrick Mitchell Jackson was driving on Sinking Creek Road when he traveled off the road and hit a utility pole that went through the car on the passenger side.

Deputies say they smelled alcohol on the driver and determined he was under the influence. They arrested Jackson.

Jackson is lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
