Semi overturns, spilling scrap metal onto I64

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A portion of I-64 was closed down on Monday following an accident involving a semi-truck.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. on I-64 at the 87 mile marker in Fayette County.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, the driver of the truck took the turn took quickly getting onto I-64 from Haley Road and overturned.

The truck was hauling scrap metal that spilled across the road.

Firefighters say the debris needs to be cleared from the road before the semi-truck can be turned upright and removed.

Firefighters say no one was hurt.

Officials expected it to take up to four hours to clear the road.
