UPDATE: Roadway cleared after fiery semi crash shuts down I-75 in Rockcastle County

Update: According to KYTC at 12:49 a.m., I-75 is now re-opened after the crash.

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fiery crash involving a semi closed all northbound lanes of I-75 in Rockcastle County Thursday night, which led to a traffic backup and detour, according to the state.

The Brodhead Fire Department responded to the scene with the Mount Vernon Fire Department, saying the semi was fully engulfed in flames.

The state says the crash was at mile marker 62, just north of Exit 62.  Authorities rerouted traffic at Exit 62 onto U.S. 25 to Exit 76 in Berea in Madison County.

Just after 10:00 p.m., the state indicated the affected section of I-75 would be closed at least two hours.
