Franklin County man arrested for burning his girlfriend
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Franklin County Sheriff says a convicted felon turned himself in after a massive man hunt early Thursday morning.
The man is accused of burning his girlfriend inside their home on Flat Creek Road. The Franklin County Sheriff says Gayle Abrams burned his girlfriend on a cast iron stove. Sheriff Pat Melton says her neck to her waist has third degree burns.
Sheriff Melton says deputies went to the area of the cabin and began searching for Abrams. They searched throughout the night without success but around 11 Thursday morning he turned himself in. Melton, “She’s lucky she was able to get there quickly and the Franklin County firefighters immediately started giving her first aid.”
Gayle Abrams says he’s a victim. He says they were drinking then got into a fight. Abrams says, “she grabbed me and she shoved me into the wood burning stove and I got burned on my butt and my back.”
He says then she fell onto the stove. According to the sheriff, Abram has a long criminal history, including domestic violence.
