Search on for driver in deadly hit-and-run in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a driver they say hit and killed a mentally challenged man from Georgia who was walking along Fall Lick Road (KY 3246), just off KY 39, overnight Sunday.

Investigators say 46-year old Kiwandi Freeman, of Gainesville, Georgia, was found dead in the front yard of a home Sunday just after 7:00 a.m.

Freeman’s family told investigators he was walking from Georgia to Washington, D.C. to avoid having to get the coronavirus vaccine.

Deputies say they think he was hit sometime between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

They say the stretch of road where he appears to have been hit is straight and dark, there are no lights.

The coroner says the preliminary autopsy results from the State Medical Examiner’s Office show Freeman died from blunt force trauma.  The coroner says Freeman’s internal injuries are consistent with someone who is hit by something.

Anyone with information in the case or who may have security camera video along Fall Lick Road is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 606-365-2696.
