MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The search continues for a hiker who disappeared in Red River Gorge Tuesday night.

Search and rescue crews say 29-year-old Leslie Reynolds called his family around sundown Tuesday night saying he was lost on a trail in Menifee County.

On Friday crews were back out on that trail looking for Reynolds.

Crews were back out at the command post early Friday morning resuming their search for Reynolds, this time with search dogs they can help sniff out his scent in this dense forest.

Crews have been searching.

The Bison Way Trailhead area of Red River Gorge since Tuesday night with no luck.

Crews say they did find Reynolds hammock and camp area but haven’t been able to locate him.

Reynolds is said to have suffered from a brain injury a few years ago and crews say he could be suffering some short term memory loss as a result of not being able to take his medication.

Crews say after close to three days in the woods, Reynolds cell phone is now dead and no longer have a way of tracking it.

While they are getting more worried as time continues to pass, crews say they have rescued hikers in the past that have been in these woods for a lot longer.

“There’s some that we’ve searched for for a whole week and had over a hundred personnel here at times in one day and was able to find them a week later I we’ll condition,” said Mike Sparks with Powell County Search and Rescue.

Hikers are asked to avoid that area of Red River Gorge as long as this search continues.
