Search committee evaluates candidates for WKU president
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – Fewer than 10 applicants are under serious consideration to become Western Kentucky University’s next president.
The Daily News of Bowling Green reports (http://bit.ly/2fLfnZw ) that the search committee met behind closed doors with a consulting firm for three hours Friday to whittle down the number of candidates to replace Gary A. Ransdell, who became WKU’s ninth president in 1997.
Ransdell has announced his intention to retire next summer.
Recruiting consultant Isaacson Miller Inc. has been hired to help with the search, and is still reaching out to more people who may be interested in the position.
Phillip Bale, a member of WKU’s Board of Regents and chair of the presidential search committee, says he doesn’t expect candidates’ names to be made public unless they become finalists.
