SCAM ALERT: Bogus Hope Center reps reported in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A spokesperson for the Hope Center is alerting residents to a scam in Lexington.

The center says that one or more persons have been going door to door in Fayette County, saying they are raising money to support the Hope Center.  The spokesperson says that the individuals involved do not represent the Hope Center, and their “fundraising” efforts are a scam.

The Hope Center says they’ve received multiple reports of the scam, all from southeast Lexington, in particular near and around Tates Creek Road, Saron Drive, and Hartland Parkway.  The center says one of the scammers identified herself as Brenda Johnson, and that she reportedly persuaded residents to make donations by checks made out to and endorsed by Entrepeneur Sales, LLC.

If anyone comes to your residence claiming to represent the Hope Center and requesting money, do not give anything to them.   The Hope Center does not raise money door to door.

Please notify the police with a description of the individual and the request made.  Anyone who receives such a visit is also asked to help the Hope Center by calling Carrie Thayer at 859-225-4673 or by email at cthayer@hopectr.org.
