Road work continues as snow piles up

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) –  Mayor Jim Gray says the city is making progress clearing main roads of snow and ice.  Today’s new snowfall, however, means some portion of that progress will be lost.

Road crews say they are now shifting their focus to side streets, which have become a major trouble spot for Lexingtonians just trying to get to work or to the store.  Gray addressed that issue on Tuesday, saying road crews had started plowing the side streets included in the city’s snow plan and that they planned to work on those streets overnight.  With new snow overnight, those efforts may be rendered moot in some areas.  Gray did say, however, that the city has called in independent contractors to help those crews clear the streets faster.
