UPDATE: Fatal tractor trailer, car crash in Bracken County

UPDATE: (1/23/19) – Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal collision between a passenger car and a tractor trailer on the AA Highway in Bracken County.

The collision occurred Wednesday just before midnight on the AA Highway just South of KY 1019.

KSP says the preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Chrysler 300 operated by Michael R. Burns, age 36 of Maysville, KY crossed the center median of the AA Highway and collided with a 2019 Volvo Tractor pulling a Trailer operated by Kenneth Cook, age 60 of Spencer, Iowa.

Burns was pronounced deceased on scene by the Bracken County Coroner. A toxicology report is pending. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Bracken County Fire Department, Bracken County EMS, Bracken County Coroner and the Kentucky Road Department assisted KSP.

The collision remains under investigation by Reconstructionist Trooper Zachary Alsip.

BRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — According to the Transportation Cabinet, the AA Highway in Bracken County is partially closed after a fatal semi crash.

KYTC says the crash happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning near mile marker 15.

They say at least one person was killed and two lanes are currently closed.

They say a detour has been set up, taking drivers on Highway 1109, then Route 8 to Highway 1019, then back to the AA.

They estimate the crash will take up to six hours to clear.
