Retired soccer star Abby Wambach speaks at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – One of the world’s best known soccer stars spoke to fans Tuesday night at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Abby Wambach is a retired World Cup Soccer Champion and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. She spoke at Memorial Hall as part of the Student Activities Board’s “Women of the World” series.

Wambach told the audience that everyone should be heard and that everyone has something to contribute to the conversation. Wambach’s appearance on campus came just days after she was arrested in Portland, Oregon for reportedly driving under the influence.

On Sunday she apologized for the incident on her Facebook page. On Tuesday in Lexington, she said she couldn’t comment on the situation because it is an ongoing case.
