Retired Lexington Fire Lieutenant Killed In Crash

Investigators said a retired Lexington Firefighter was killed in a motorcycle crash.

The Bourbon County Coroner said that Timothy Claggett, 54, lost control of his motorcycle Wednesday and was hit by an oncoming car.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 6:30p.m. on Thatchers Mill Road in North Middletown.

Claggett joined the Lexington Fire Department in 1987.

He became an emergency medical technician, and later a paramedic.

The department said Claggett served on engine, ladder and ambulance companies over his career.

He also spent several years on the hazmat team.

Claggett served Lexington for more than 25 years before he retired as a Lieutenant in 2013.

The fire department said Claggett had recently become a grandfather and was a devoted family man.

The department said his funeral arrangements were pending.
