Report: Man accused of killing Pikeville police officer pleads guilty

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man indicted for the murder of a Pikeville police officer has pleaded guilty.

According to the Appalachian News-Express, 56-year-old John R. Hall pleaded guilty in Pike Circuit Court Wednesday to murder for the shooting death of officer Scotty Hamilton.

The Appalachian News-Express says, as a result of the plea, Hall was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Hamilton was shot and killed in March while searching around a home in the Hurricane Creek area.
