Repairs continue after gas leaks on Main St. in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Columbia Gas is trying to figure out what caused a gas leak Thursday afternoon on Main Street in Lexington that impacted inbound traffic on a busy stretch of Main Street.
The gas company says it wasn’t doing any work when the leak was discovered. The company says someone smelled gas and reported it.
Because of the leak, inbound Main Street was closed from Ashland Avenue to Walton Avenue.
Late Thursday night, the company says a second leak was detected in the area, which would delay the reopening of inbound Main Street.
A spokesperson for Columbia Gas says crews would likely work overnight, so it was unclear when the that stretch of Main Street would reopen.
