Regular yard waste removal to resume
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -As the spring season continues to develop in the Commonwealth, so do extra lawn trimmings and general vegetation. Fortunately for green thumbs, Lexington’s Division of Waste Management says they will resume yard waste collection starting Monday, March 14.
Yard waste containers, yard waste bundles and yard waste bags will receive weekly service, along with trash and recycling containers, on the regular collection day.
The city implemented the winter yard waste collection protocol on February 1 in response to reduced seasonal demand. The Division of Waste Management offers yard waste service for residents throughout the winter protocol period on an as-needed basis; requests can be placed through LexCall. Early calculations show Lexington will save $4,000 in fuel costs during the six weeks the winter protocol is in effect.
Residents are encouraged to use roll carts to dispose of their compostable yard waste. Those with city waste collection service who do not have a yard waste cart may request one by calling LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255. Requests can also be made online, www.lexcall.lexingtonky.gov <http://www.lexcall.lexingtonky.gov>, or using the LexCall phone app.
