Regional Roundup: Construction projects affecting traffic
COVINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has released a summary of construction projects affecting traffic in the region. They are advising motorists to be aware of the following construction zones:
BOONE COUNTY
- KY 18 (15.3 – 16 mile-marker) – A resurfacing project is in progress on KY 18 from Ewing Blvd. to Girard Street. Daily lane closures and delays should be expected. Drivers should use extra caution when traversing the work zone. Anticipated completion is November 20, 2015.
- I-275 Carroll Cropper Bridge EB and WB (12.4 – 14.9 mile-marker) –Work continues on the southbound structure of the I-275 Carroll Cropper Bridge deck restoration project. A “zipper merge” is in place during high traffic to help with traffic flow – watch and follow signage. Periodic long delays should be expected. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route. The completion date is December 15, 2015.
CAMPBELL COUNTY
- Riverboat Row in Newport – Riverboat Row is closed between the Chart House Restaurant and Joes Crab Shack Restaurant for extensive repairs to the underlying Taylor Creek culvert. Thru traffic will not be permitted on Riverboat Row for vehicles, bicycles or pedestrians. The intersection of Riverboat Row and Dave Cowens Drive (KY 8) will remain open at Riviera Drive; however, traffic will not be able to proceed beyond the entrances to Joes Crab Shack Restaurant and the Comfort Suites Hotel. Access for the Chart House Restaurant will be provided though the Newport “Port of Entry”. Please exercise caution and obey the traffic control devices surrounding the construction area. The project requires large equipment and large materials that will occupy the majority of the roadway. The timeline for total completion of the project and the re-opening of Riverboat Row is undetermined at this point.
- KY 9 – Newport – Construction is in progress along Lowell Street between 9th Street and KY 9 (12th Street). Drivers should exercise caution and watch for traffic control devices, flaggers, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone.
GRANT COUNTY
- KY 1994 (Sherman-Mt. Zion Road) 1.3 – 3.9 mile-marker – A resurfacing project is in progress on KY 1994 from US 25 to Dry Ridge – Mt. Zion Road. Work will take place during daytime hours, 8 AM until 7 PM, Monday through Sunday. Drivers should exercise caution and watch for traffic control devices, flaggers, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone. Work is weather dependant. Updated completion date is November 24, 2015.
KENTON COUNTY
- City of Kenton Vale – Work has begun on storm sewer replacement and resurfacing on city streets. Residents and motorist should exercise caution and watch for traffic control devices, flaggers, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone. Estimated completion November 30, 2015.
OWEN COUNTY
- KY 355 (Gratz-Monterey Road) near 4.7 mile-marker – The KY 355 bridge over Severn Creek has been reduced to one lane for a bridge painting project. A temporary traffic signal is in place during the closure. Motorists should use caution and expect delays when driving through the project area. Anticipated completion is November 30, 2015.
- KY 330 (Lusby Mill Road) near 5.4 mile-marker – The KY 330 bridge over Eagle Creek will be reduced to one lane during working hours, 7 days a week, for a bridge painting project. Signs and flaggers will be in place. Motorists should use caution and expect delays when driving through the project area. Anticipated completion is November 30, 2015.
