Refreshing Fall Preview Ahead
Cooler, drier air sweeps in after Sunday’s front, bringing a rare late-August cool down.
A Warm Saturday Wraps Up with a Few Spotty Storms
Saturday brought another taste of summer with afternoon highs pushing into the upper 80s, and a few spots likely touching 90°. Most of Central and Eastern Kentucky enjoyed plenty of sunshine, though areas closer to Lake Cumberland had to dodge a few scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and early evening.
Cold Front Brings Subtle Changes Sunday
A cold front slides through tonight into Sunday morning, and while it won’t pack much punch in terms of rain, it will set the stage for some changes. A few isolated showers may linger in southern Kentucky, but for most of us, Sunday turns out mostly sunny. Highs will still reach the mid-80s for many spots, but behind the front, noticeably drier air begins moving in. A refreshing breeze will help it feel less muggy as the day goes on.
A Rare August Cool Down Ahead
The big story comes next week as a strong area of Canadian high pressure takes over. This will deliver an early preview of fall with very comfortable afternoons and downright cool mornings. Highs will only top out in the upper 70s through the first half of the week, running nearly 10 degrees below average for late August. Morning lows dip into the 50s—some of the cooler valleys could even flirt with the upper 40s by midweek. Combine that with sunshine and much lower humidity, and it’ll feel like late September instead of late August. It’s a rare treat for this time of year, so soak it up while it lasts.
