Reforest at Home offers free tree seedlings
Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — The city of Lexington provided free tree seedlings for Fayette County residents to plant in their own yards for Reforest at Home.
People were able to visit the Living Arts and Science Center, Jacobson park and Shillito Park to pick up tree seedlings.
The seedlings of six different varieties were offered on a first come first serve bases.
And the hope of Reforest at Home is to increase Lexington’s tree canopy.
Heather Wilson, with the Urban Forestry Program, says it’s great seeing all the people that come out.
“The more people that get involved I think the better,” said Wilson. “Again like I said trees benefit us all and it’s really exciting to have people be able to come out and get trees and feel connected that way.”
The event began at 10 a.m. and wrapped up at 1 p.m.
