Red Cross volunteers headed to help hurricane victims

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross is preparing a large response effort as Hurricane Harvey bears down on Texas and Louisiana.

Officials with the American Red Cross say seven trained Red Cross disaster workers in Kentucky, two from the Lexington area, are headed to Texas to help prepare shelters and mobilize relief supplies for a for a full Gulf Coast response.

They say more Red Cross workers in the Lexington Area, and across Kentucky, in addition to response vehicles, are on stand-by ready to assist if/when called upon.
