Red Cross making calls to help families affected by WV flooding
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials at the Red Cross say people in Central Kentucky may be receiving a call from the organization.
After severe thunderstorms and deadly flooding in West Virginia, local Red Cross staff and volunteers are making phone calls, asking for contributions to help affected families.
Red Cross officials say 150 workers are on the ground in the areas impacted by the storms, with more on the way to provide relief in the area. 13 shelters have been established, says the organization, providing a dry place to sleep for over 1,200 people.
