Rand Paul to accept bitcoin campaign donations

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – After announcing his 2016 presidential bid on Tuesday, current Senator Rand Paul is already making history, of a sort.

Paul is allowing supporters to donate to his campaign using the virtual currency, "bitcoin."  Paul is the first candidate for president to accept digital funds, though some members of congress used it in the last election season.

Bitcoins will have to be converted back into dollars before they are used.
