Rand Paul suspended from YouTube over COVID claims

(CNN) – YouTube suspended U.S. Senator Rand Paul’s account for a week on Tuesday, according to CNN.

The social media channel suspended the Republican from Kentucky’s account for posting false COVID claims, according to the report.

In the video in question, which YouTube branded offensive, Senator Paul says, “most of the masks you get over the counter don’t work.  They don’t prevent infection.”

YouTube released a statement saying, “we apply our policies consistently across the political platform, regardless of speaker or political views.”

In response to the move, Senator Paul posted on Twitter that the suspension was a “badge of honor.”
