Ramsey says UofL set to implement initiative

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – University of Louisville President James Ramsey says the school is ready to put its 21st Century Initiative into action.

Ramsey updated plans on the initiative in his 12th annual State of the University speech Wednesday.

The initiative identifies niche areas of excellence, promotes collaboration and streamlines administrative functions.

Ramsey says UofL will put the plan into action in the coming year.

Ramsey also focused on the school’s commitment to diversity, sustainability and economic development.

He said UofL improved its graduation rate and led the state in the number of Fulbright scholars. He said the university also exceeded goals for the number of doctoral degrees awarded and National Science Foundation research expenditures.

Ramsey said UofL will also fight for increased state funding in next year’s state legislative session in Frankfort.
