Rainy, gusty and cool temperatures on tap for Thursday

Another dreary day ahead

Yesterday, Lexington saw record-breaking rainfall. 1.20″ of rain beat out the previous record of 1.02″ in 2002. This puts us at the second-wettest October on record, and there’s still more rain to come. We’ll see widespread rain through the morning, becoming more scattered by the afternoon. Some areas of drizzle may be very low to the ground, so radar may struggle to show areas with lighter rainfall. Winds will pick up this afternoon, gusting up to 25-30 mph. Temperatures will be cool in the low 50s.

Halloween forecast

Halloween will start dry and clear. This will lead to chilly overnight low temperatures. We are expected to reach the low 30s, and frost will be possible. Be sure to take care of sensitive plants tonight. Beyond that, we’ll have breezy and mild conditions in the mid-50s with mostly sunny skies. By trick-or-treating time, we’ll stay clear. Temperatures will quickly drop to the 40s past sunset, so bundle up when heading outdoors.

Mostly dry for the weekend

Saturday will be dry with a few clouds and breezy winds. Temperatures will reach the upper 50s. Overnight into Sunday morning, there will be a chance for an isolated shower. By late Sunday morning to early afternoon, we’ll dry up and will look similar to Saturday. Sunday is also the end of daylight saving time, so be sure to turn back your clocks and check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
