Rain causes several mudslides in Pike and Floyd Counties

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Rain caused several mudslides Sunday in Pike County and Floyd County.

First, the Transportation Cabinet reported a big slide on Kentucky 1428 in Floyd County between Goble Roberts Bridge and Sugar Loaf, the same place where there was a slide last week.

According to the Cabinet, crews had salt in their trucks so they had to empty that before they could haul out mud.

There was another, much smaller slide on Kentucky 404 that didn’t take long to clear.

Crews also took care of a small slide in Pike County on Town Mountain road and Kentucky 1426, but then another slide happened in the same spot.

The Transportation Cabinet says everything should now be clear and open again.
