Somerset police officer accused of shooting son

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a man is in the hospital after being shot by his father, who is a police officer.

Troopers were called to a home on Starlite Drive in Somerset around 4:00 p.m. Monday about a reported shooting.

According to police, 47-year-old Jason Griffith and son, 24-year-old Devin Griffith, got into a fight.

They say Jason Griffith then shot his son.

Devin Griffith was airlifted from the scene and taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

According to the Somerset Police Department, Jason Griffith has been an officer with the department for more than 20 years.

State Police say Griffith has not been charged.

They say the case will be presented to a Pulaski County grand jury once the investigation is complete.

Griffith is on paid administrative leave while Kentucky State Police investigate, according to the Somerset Police Department.
