Public, private elementary schools allowed to offer in-person classes with conditions

(WTVQ) – Elementary schools in Kentucky can now send students back to in-person classes starting Monday. But under the guidance from Governor Andy Beshear, this only applies to counties, not in the red zone.

Healthy at School guidelines announced last month, closed all schools across the state to in-person classes to slow the spread of the virus. This included both public and private institutions.

As of the update at 4 P.M. Sunday, 114 of the state’s counties, are in the red. Nicholas, Breckinridge, Green, Adair, and Crittenden counties are all in the orange. Menifee County is in the yellow.

Counties that reopen to in-person instruction, must also follow the states Healthy at School guidelines.

Middle and high schools will remain in remote instruction until Jan. 4, 2021.
