Public meeting set for discussion of Mountain Parkway plan

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is holding a public meeting this week in eastern Kentucky to present information and gather feedback about options for extending the Mountain Parkway from Salyersville to Prestonsburg.

Two possible ways of creating a four-lane road will be discussed. One proposal would widen the existing corridor, Kentucky 114, while the second plan is to build a new road along a cross-country corridor to the north of Kentucky 114.

The cabinet said in a news release it will use public feedback to help decide which option to take.

Kentucky 114 is a two-lane state highway that winds about 14 miles through the hills and valleys of eastern Kentucky.

The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Prestonsburg Elementary School.
